What we're learning

We are finding the volume of boxes (length × width × height) and the surface area of their faces.

Measure a box and find its volume by multiplying the three sides.
Talk about how much a container can hold (volume) vs. how much paper wraps it (surface area).
Stack cubes or blocks and count how many fill a box.

A box is 3 × 2 × 4. What is its volume?
Answer: 24 cubic units
