Ask your child to read an inequality like x > 5 out loud ('x is greater than 5') and name three numbers that work.

Words to know

Inequality: A statement comparing values with >, <, ≥, or ≤.
Solution set: All the values that make an inequality true.
Open / closed circle: Open ○ for > or < (not included); closed ● for ≥ or ≤ (included).
