Convert by multiplying or dividing

Going to a smaller unit (feet → inches) makes more of them, so multiply. Going to a bigger unit (cm → m) makes fewer, so divide.

3 feet → inches: 3 × 12 = 36 inches (smaller unit, multiply).
200 cm → meters: 200 ÷ 100 = 2 meters (bigger unit, divide).

Hint

2 twelves: 12 + 12 = 24.

B. What is 5 × 10?

Hint

5 tens = 50.

C. What is 100 ÷ 100?

Hint

Anything divided by itself is 1.

Level 1 Do real conversions.

A. 2 feet = ___ inches? (2 × 12)

Hint

Smaller unit → multiply: 2 × 12 = 24.

B. 3 meters = ___ centimeters? (3 × 100)

Hint

3 × 100 = 300 cm.

C. 400 cm = ___ meters? (400 ÷ 100)

Hint

Bigger unit → divide: 400 ÷ 100 = 4.

Level 2 Stretch your conversions.

A. 4 feet = ___ inches? (4 × 12)
